In line with the Government’s roadmap to releasing lockdown, we would confirm that it is our plan to start training for the new season week commencing 29th March 2021. The Lancashire League season for the first and second XI’s start on Sunday 18th April and for the third XI on Sunday 11th April.
If the lockdown plan remains as currently planned, the club will reopen during the week commencing Monday 12th April.
Unless Covid 19 restrictions prevent travel, our professional for the season will be Grant Roelofsen from South Africa. More details about Grant are on the Senior News page.
As you will be aware from today’s announcements, Lancashire (including Rossendale) will be moving into Tier 4 lockdown regulations as from midnight tonight. This means that there is no realistic prospect of the club reopening for some time to come. We are unable to re-open the club until we move into Tier 1 as we do not satisfy the Tier 2 regulations on providing food and the likelihood of that move seems somewhat remote at the present time, so sadly we have to remain closed. Whilst we would prefer to be open, we are in a reasonable financial position and will be able to reopen as soon as that is feasible. Our hopes are firmly pinned upon the successful and fast roll out of the vaccines.
You will also be aware, that the Annual General Meeting is usually held in January. At this moment in time, there is no prospect of social distancing rules being relaxed before the Spring of 2021. On that basis, we have had to accept that holding the AGM in January will not be possible. We have considered a virtual meeting but have decided that that would not be appropriate and therefore the Committee feel that the only viable option is to postpone the meeting until the Spring, hopefully in March 2021. Whilst this is not ideal, not being able to accommodate an appropriate number of members is unacceptable and does not meet the precise terms of our constitution. We will send out the normal documentation and information as to the date of the re-arranged meeting when it can be confirmed.
On a positive note, the Lancashire League fixtures for season 2021 have been released and at the moment it seems that the season will proceed as normal although that remains to be seen.
The December monthly draw will take place tomorrow at 11am and will be live on Twitter as usual. It will revert to the last Saturday of the month in January. We send a very large thank you for your continued support with the monthly draw.
In the meantime we wish you a Happy New Year and hope that 2021 proves to be a much better year than 2020.
Following the end of the most recent lockdown, Lancashire has been placed in Tier 3 and as a result of that the club remains closed. Unfortunately we will not be able to reopen until we move into Tier 1, whenever that maybe. However, Slimming World have now resumed their regular Tuesday meetings and we are pleased to be able to publish a message below from The Hut by the Wickets at Haslingden Cricket Club.
We are running a delivery & collection service for our delicious Roast every Sunday now from 1pm to 9pm.
You can order via our Haslingden phone 07493356263, on our app (during opening hours on the day) or on our website: www.thehutrossendale.co.uk
We wanted to confirm something that you may have already seen on social media that The Hut will no longer be opening on a Sunday at HCC until we are able to reopen the clubhouse fully. Their Rawtenstall site remains open as usual for collection and deliveries.
There have also been press articles circulating reporting that social clubs in Tier 3 areas are able to open to members only and visitors are able to drink alcohol without having to purchase a substantial meal. We had established that this was only for clubs with a Club Premises Licence, but in any event this morning the Government confirmed that this is not the case and have closed that loophole. So we will remain closed at least until the four week Tier 3 Covid 19 review that is due to take place in mid-November.
You will probably be aware that Lancashire moved into Tier 3 in the Coronavirus level shortly after midnight on Friday 16th October 2020. The result of this is that the club has had to close once again. We understand that this status will be reviewed by the government after four weeks. As soon as there is any change to our status, we will notify you via our website, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram pages.
The Hut will open on a Sunday for provision of their delicious Sunday Roast Meals. If you would like to book a table please contact the Hut directly on 07493 356263 via Facebook, Twitter or on their app. Their Rawtenstall site is open as usual for collection and delivery.
We will be continuing to monitor the situation with regard to reopening and will run the monthly draw as usual. This will be live on Twitter on the last Saturday of the month. If you would like to join the draw please click here.
We hope that you are all staying well and thank you for your ongoing support with the Monthly Draw and by raising funds for us via Easyfundraising. We hope to see you soon.

We hope that the ECB & The Government will provide us
with promising news about the return of cricket sooner rather than later.
We are sure that you are aware of
recent events surrounding the Coronavirus pandemic and at this time of
uncertainty, we thought it appropriate to update you on how this is impacting
on our cricket club and how our members could help to ease the strain over the
The ECB has taken the decision to
suspend all junior and senior recreational cricket for the foreseeable future.
There has been a meeting of the Lancashire League Cricket Executive where it
was decided that there will be no Cup competitions apart from a T20 competition
and once sanctions are lifted, teams will play each other once with no
promotion or relegation. Clubs will not be penalised if they do not engage a
professional. It is envisaged that cricket will not commence until the
beginning of July at the earliest but obviously that will be kept under review.
As you will be aware the club
closed its doors on Friday 20th March in line with Government
guidelines and all events and functions have had to be cancelled. This will
have a significant financial impact on our club. Our Management Committee
have taken steps to reduce our outgoings during this period of closure and we
hope that there will be some financial support by way of grants from the
Government. We are currently waiting for confirmation with regards to
eligibility and accessing this funding.
Memberships – In the meantime, we are asking our members to continue to support the club by renewing their membership as soon as possible, where they are able to do so. We do know that some people have already renewed their membership and we are very grateful for that support. For those members who are players, we are asking you to pay a non-player membership at this time. Payments can be made by following this link.

The health and well-being of our members and visitors is a priority and we encourage all to follow the precautions set by Public Health England to reduce the chances of passing and receiving the virus.
